Zotero plugin proxy configuration initiating proxying for *.on.worldcat.org

Users at institutions that support authentication to the Discovery interface at *.on.worldcat.org cannot authenticate when proxied (it is a man in the middle attack for SAML authentincation). At OCLC we have suddenly gotten a number of support requests for authentication failures and it seems that they may be related to Zotero initiating proxy mode without the user noticing.

I don't use the proxying mode in the browser bookmarks: is the user able to configure zotero to NOT proxy *.on.worldcat.org ? Or will we have to tell those users to disable all Zotero support for proying?
  • Could one of your users provide a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector for the flow that breaks?

    They should
    1. Enable Debug Logging in Zotero Connector Preferences
    2. Open a new tab. Perform the navigation and attempt to login that causes issues.
    3. Switch back to Zotero Connector Preferences and submit the debug log and get a Debug ID.

    Post the Debug ID here.
  • It's an indirect relationship, but i'll pass this on. From your response, it sounds like users of Zotero browser plug in cannot manually manage which sites are proxied.
  • There's no way to blacklist hostnames at the moment, but we can add it if it's causing issues, or just add on.worldcat.org to a proxy blacklist. Still, we need to see additional information regarding this issue before we can confirm it's caused by us and if so, what's the best way to address it.
